CTR is clicks divided by impressions. Learn how Search Console reports it, why it depends on position and how to improve it for a page.

Click-through rate, or CTR, is the share of impressions that turn into clicks. In Search Console it is clicks divided by impressions for a query, a page or a whole site over the dates you choose.
Why does CTR depend on position?
Results near the top of the page get far more clicks than results further down, so a CTR must be read against the position. A page at position 2 with a low CTR has a title or description problem. A page at position 15 with a low CTR is mostly a ranking problem.
How can I improve a low CTR?
Rewrite the title so it matches the search and promises something specific, make the description a direct answer and check that the page still matches what people expected. Change one thing at a time and compare over several weeks.
Where do I see it for all my sites?
Search Console shows one property at a time. See how to view all your Search Console sites in one place for ways to compare them.
